The Lost Places of Salsa Music in NYC is a bilingual publication that includes short stories about some of the most iconic places for the Latinx community that defined New York City’s salsa scene in the 1970s. Also, it contains oral narratives, interviews, archive material, and a map pointing to some of the places the author found during his original research.

The book is part of an ambitious project called Where We Were Safe, a multimedia experience on New York City's salsa history by NYC-based journalist Marcos Echeverría Ortiz.
