Terminal Ediciones and NYC-based record label APOCALIPSIS teamed up to create DE AQUÍ/DE ALLÁ, a limited edition book series and visual archive documenting sound artists from the de aquí/de allá diaspora.
The first edition (printed in green fluorescent ink!) dives into the immersive home studio of Kichwa artist Mala Fama, and his production process that welcomed in collaborations with Indigenous artists across Northern Ecuador. Jishushka, the resulting album, spans electronic experimentation and reworkings of regional traditions such as Kichwa funeral music, cumbia, and marimba.
The book includes an insightful discussion between Mala Fama, Apocalipsis founder Sara Skolnick and Kichwa social activist, Shaya Vinueza.
